NSW road spending welcomed

Roads Australia has welcomed the road spending promises announced in yesterday’s NSW State Budget.

“Although it would appear the budget has been underpinned by increased Federal funding, the road spending programs – particularly in the current economic climate - are nevertheless significant,” RA President, Ray Fisher, said today.

“We are especially pleased at the ongoing commitment of both the NSW and Federal governments to the national highway network.

“Funding for the continuing upgrades of the Pacific and Hume highways will ensure these vital corridors can support and sustain Australia’s economic recovery and future growth.

“We urge the NSW Government to continue working with the private sector and Roads Australia to ensure the planning for these and other projects can deliver a co-ordinated pipeline of work that provides surety and jobs for the road industry.”
