The Roads Australia Christmas Luncheon has now been scheduled for Wednesday 3rd December with Guest Speaker the Hon John Mickel, Minister for Transport, Trade, Employment and Industrial Relations.

Minister for Transport Trade Employment and Industrial relations

Minister MickelHe was formely Minister for State Development, Employment and Industrial Relations.

Minister Mickel was elevated to the Cabinet as Minister for Environment in February 2004 and appointed Minister for Energy in August 2004.  He gained the additional portfolio of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Policy in March 2005.

As State Development Minister he reinforced the Government's commitment to regional growth by instigating the Centres of Enterprise initiative. The six Centres of Enterprise throughout Queensland aim to build the economic strength of each region by focussing on its particular strengths.

Minister Mickel also initiated a review of the Department's business grants scheme which resulted in the new Business and Industry Transformation Incentives scheme (BITI) to provide a more targeted approach to building and strengthing the State's key industry sectors.

As Energy Minister he implement the recommendations of the Sommerville review into Electricity Distribution and Service Delivery. He introduced Full Retail Contestability of the electricity and gas markets in Queensland and restructured the retail arms of government-owned electricity and gas utilities.

Minister Mickel entered the Queensland Parliament in 1998 as the Member for Logan.

Minister Mickel is married with three children.  Before entering the Queensland Parliament he worked as a Senior Policy Advisor at a State and Federal level.  He has formely been a university lecturer, tutor and teacher.

Event Booking and Cancellation Policy

Bookings are to be confirmed and paid in full 48 hours prior to the event.  Bookings received 48 hours prior to the event cannot be guaranteed unless a confirmation has been received by the Event Manager. Cancellations should be notified in writing by email.  Cancellations received prior to one week before the event will receive a full refund less 25%.   No refund will be applicable for cancellations received after one week prior to the event although substitute delegates are welcomed.
