The Roads Australia Forum is the premier networking event on the roads industry calendar. Over a full day meeting with sit down lunch, participants are briefed on the national state of play by the industry's key decision makers.

We have an exciting line up of speakers. The keynote speaker over lunch will be the Minister for Main Roads and Local Government, Warren Pitt.

the Hon Warren Pitt, Minister for Main Roads and Local Government 

Warren PittWarren Pitt was first elected to Parliament in 1989 as Member for the far noth Queenlsand seat of Mulgrave.  He initially held the seat for six years, and was then re-elected in 1998, tiving the Beattie Government the ncessary Parliamentary majority to govern Queensland.

He has held the seat since, and was re-elected in September 2006 with a substantially increased majority.

Warren was first appointed to Cabinet in 1995, as Minister for Business, Industry and Regional Development.  He ws again appointed to Cabinet in 2004, as Minister for Communities, Disability Services, and Seniors.

With the appointment of Anna Bligh as Premier in September 2007, Warren was offered the portfolios of Main Roads and Local Government, while maintaining a lead role in implementing the government's Blueprint for the Bush.

Warren was born in Cairns in 1948 and has lived most of his life in the Far North.  Before entering the Queensland Parliament, Warren was a teacher, army officer and army reservist.  He holds a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts.

He and his wife Linda operated a retail sporting goods store in Gordonvale for more than 10 years and developed a strong network in small business. He was instrumental in establishing the Gordonvale Chamber of Commerce.

Warren rates the Queensland Government's record funding boost for disability services, the introduction of the new Disability Services Act, and the implementation of the blueprint for the Bush and the Early Years Strategy as major achievements over the last 2 years.  He is now busy tackling the challenges of Queensland's five-year $13.3 billion roadworks program and implementing the government's local government reform process.
