‘NEXT GEN’ COLLABORATIVE CONTRACTING WILL DRIVE INNOVATION Australasia’s infrastructure industry leaders will meet in Sydney this October to explore how the region’s next generation of collaborative contracting will lead innovation in value- driven procurement. According to Alliancing Association of Australasia’s (AAA) co-founder and Executive Director Alain Mignot, the AAA National Convention in Sydney, 21-22 October 2010, will discuss progress and the practical implications of a newly released update to the famous DTF Practitioners’ Guide to Alliancing, a Project Alliance Agreement (PAA) model and the Victorian Government’s Policy on Alliancing. “We are assisting Victoria’s Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) to develop the Treasury Inter-jurisdictional Alliancing Steering Committee’s framework, as it is an important part of the journey towards the next generation of alliancing,” Mr Mignot said.
Themed “Expanding our collaborative horizons”, the 2010 convention program enables interactive discussion about the major trends and strategic challenges shaping the industry’s future. Industry panels and group discussions will focus on current issues and updates on the AAA’s latest research projects. Mr Mignot said the focus this year will be on sharing lessons learnt to maximise value delivery.
Delegates will also have the chance to hear keynotes from acknowledged experts such as: • Craig James, Chief Equities Economist, Commonwealth Securities: “Show me the money! Infrastructure funding in a persistent GFC” • Rod Sims, Director Port Jackson Partners Limited, Chairperson, Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART): “Seizing the opportunity” • Oscar Gregory, General Manager, Iron and Slab – Blue Scope Steel Port Kembla: “Lessons learnt from a long term Service Alliance”.
Since 2006, the AAA annual National Convention has emerged as an insightful industry forum for practitioners to engage in a conversation with their peers on key issues and share their collective experience, learnings and future outlook. Mr Mignot said the Convention owes its success to the endorsement and participation of industry, such as this year’s convention sponsors: Leighton Contractors, Sydney Water, Alchimie, Roads & Traffic Authority of NSW, Currie & Brown, Transfield Services, Evans & Peck, and Parsons Brinckerhoff.
The 2010 convention will continue to celebrate professional excellence through its annual Alliance Excellence Awards. Now in its fourth year, the awards will be presented Thursday 21 October, in the categories of Outstanding Contributor to Alliancing and Alliance Team of Excellence in both Project and Long Term Alliances.
